Rob’s academic research focuses on the intersection of technology and regulation. He has appeared as an expert witness in many Federal Court proceedings and in regulatory proceedings around Asia. Rob has made numerous submissions to government inquiries and regularly provides media commentary. Nicholls has had a forty-year career concentrating on competition, regulation, and governance. He was originally a communications engineer graduating from the University of Birmingham. He was awarded his PhD and MA by UNSW Sydney. Before moving to his current roles, he worked for UNSW, Webb Henderson, the ACCC and spent twelve years as a client-facing consultant at Gilbert + Tobin, including as a partner. He is an accredited mediator.
